Do you accept insurance, and which plans?
What does therapy cost if i don’t have insurance or want to pay out of pocket?
Our self-pay rate is $200 for an initial intake session (90791) and $175 for standard ongoing sessions (90837). We also offer a sliding scale for clients facing financial barriers. Just ask, no extensive justification required.
Your first appointment is a clinical intake (CPT Code 90791) where your therapist gathers background, history and goals to build a treatment plan. The initial session can feel question heavy & we do our best to have many questions sent prior to the intake session (in our client portal). Regular sessions vary from 45 minutes to 60 minute therapy appointments where you and the therapist are doing the work to support your goals of therapy.
What’s the difference between my first appointment and regular sessions?
It means our clinicians are trained, or under direct supervision, in the unique stressors LGBTQIA+ people navigate including minority stress, family rejection, medical gatekeeping, identity exploration and we don’t treat your identity as the problem to be solved. Affirming care means your therapist already has an understanding of the basics of the experience so session time goes towards what’s actually bringing you in, not therapy 101 about who you are.
What makes Folx and Friends counseling “lgbtqia2s+” affirming, specifically.
We offer primarily Individual Therapy and Couples Therapy. We have and plan to offer group experiences. Many clients start in one format & sometimes add another later. For example, an individual may in time share during their individual sessions strained dynamics in their relationship leading to starting couples therapy with a new therapist at Folx and Friends Counseling.
do you offer couples or group therapy, or just individual sessions?
do you work with transgender, Nonbinary & gender expansive persons specifically?
Yes! Supporting trans, nonbinary and gender expansive persons is core to our practice, including therapy related to gender exploration. We support individuals 18+ in completing their WPATH letter as they continue towards congruence in who they are.
Reaching out can feel heavy, we have tried out best to ease this heaviness. You have options!
